Armed with a BA in English and a certificate from Berkeley Film Institute, my story as a writer began by writing and directing environmental documentaries for technology, education and conservation organizations.
I wrote film proposals that procured private and government funding, film scripts that tied existing footage together with updated interviews, and narration that translated science and technology for general audiences. These films increased project funding, viewer awareness, and state and federal legislative support.
After a few years I gravitated to the advertising industry and produced TV commercials for over 10 years. When production began to move outside the country, I wrote copy between jobs for brochures, trade articles, press releases, case studies, and Web pages for marketing groups, manufacturers, and small and large businesses.
Eventually I accepted full time positions in the corporate world as Project Manager and Business Operations Analyst, learning more about business and corporate communication, and supporting a growing screenwriting habit!
Today I have my own business writing stories that communicate the benefits of products, services, and ideas for individuals, companies, and organizations. I write copy that helps businesses make their exciting new technology driven products and services understandable for end user application, and intelligible for investors who need to grasp their commercial potential.
Much like the magician who practiced the ancient science of alchemy to turn metal into gold, I use storytelling to transform the metal of a company’s value into the gold of credibility and sales.
